Vacation is a means of relaxation and tranquility for me. Especially, when we talk about brief and short-distance escapes. I like staying in such lodgings that reminds you “the family cottage”, making you feel as if you were at home. As such, we can refer to Cosy Maisonette in Taktikoupolis, Trizina. Its owner, Katerina Koronaiou, is an English tutor and translator. I met her some time ago from a joint company and we were hosted at her house. A woman who is mostly caring and hospitable. Over the last three years, she has been involved in tourism since the Cosy Maisonette has managed to hold one of the highest ratings in Booking-9,3/10, and in Airbnb-4,84/5!
Even though the house may not provide the 5-star hotel facilities, a lot of greek and foreign visitors prefer spending their long or short-break holidays in this place as the moments of relaxation and serenity they can get are of importance. If you are wondering where Taktikoupolis is situated, I can tell you that is a 2-hour drive from Athens and/or 1-hour voyage from the port of Piraeus, and in less than an hour you can reach Hydra, Spetses, Poros, Porto Heli, Nafplio and, of course, Ancient Epidaurus.
COSY MAISONETTE: NAME & PHILOSOPHY
You can easily understand from the title given that the Cosy Maisonette depicts the most “cosy corner of Taktikoupolis”. Warm and welcoming all year round, it is the ideal house for everyone to feel what we call “greek hospitality” in an “unknown” destination for several people. “The name of the house comes from its interior design. The decoration of the house made up of stone and wood has its origins in my mother’s design. I think that it is indeed a warm house and the same goes for my customers’ point of view. It is a cosy corner that reminds our own home, either it is our house or cottage”, Katerina points out.
The Cosy Maisonette is built on a hill, in a village characterised by calmness. You will not encounter crowded taverns or bars. In the COVID-ERA, it was mostly preferred as a COVID-FREE CORNER. “Many people wanted to get away from the fast pace of Athens”. Katerina’s house, which was built in 1890, has welcomed all kinds of people from families with children, couples up to the elderly. Since then, it has been passed down from generation to generation improving its corner each year, making it more appealing to its visitors. “Actually, the Cosy Maisonette is a modern version of a traditional house. The stone, wood and fireplace as well as the other rooms of the house are harmonized with the decoration and colors.”
Cosy Maisonette: A two-storey buliding
The Cosy Maisonette is a two-storey house, at about 150 square metres, with a yard and a barbecue that can host up to four persons, especially if we refer to a fourth child. Entering the house, we can see the living room with its stonemade sofa, the fully-equipped kitchen and a W.C. Going upstairs, there are two bedrooms, the first one with a double-bed and the other one with a single-bed where there is the possibility of adding one more bed, and, of course, the bathroom. “The house is accessible for the physically challenged and it has always been one of our priorities as some members of my family have to deal with mobility difficulties. Therefore, we can understand first-hand, the kind of difficulties such a person may have during his/her holidays.”
In every room, there is an A.C. as well as fans. There is also a smart T.V. in which the visitor can enjoy his/her favourite series on Netflix, not to mention the excellent Wi-Fi signal. The housekeeper may come whenever the customer wishes by arrangement.
5-Star Reviews!
The Cosy Maisonette holds one of the highest places in the platforms of Booking and Airbnb, if anyone keeps up with the ratings. In fact, the reviews received, from time to time, by foreign and greek tourists, are of 5-stars based on the cleanliness and the cosy hospitality being provided.
“The reviews are actually based on cleanliness and I owe it exclusively to the people I work with. Every visitor I’ve talked to had a great time…they keep telling me that I’ve been very helpful by playing my part in what we call “greek hospitality”.
The Cosy Maisonette is nothing more and nothing less than what can be seen in the photos. Besides, this has always been the aim of its owner. “ As a visitor/customer too, wherever I choose to stay, I have the expectation for an accordance between photos and reality. So, from that perspective, I want my customers to be satisfied”.
Going Sightseeing
It’s true that I’ve never been to Taktikoupolis region before. Even if I had heard a lot about it, I’d never had the chance to be there. For nature lovers, there is a path leading to the Volcano in the area of Methana. You can easily reach the beach as it takes only 5-10 minutes by car and it is ideal for all tastes combining sand and pebbles. The half part of the beach is organized and the other one is not. If anyone wishes to do water sports, he can do it, indulging himself in fishing or surfing. Of the attractions that one can visit, coming from every corner of Greece, is the church of Saint Kyprianos, which is a pole of attraction regarding religious tourism. Another site that should not be missed is the Castle of Favieros.
The Ancient theatre of Epidaurus, which is a top summer destination, is only 20 minutes from the Cosy Maisonette. Therefore, if a visitor wants to combine relaxation along with his favourite theatrical performance, then this is the place to stay.
Day trips to nearby destinations are a MUST, especially during summer. Nafplio is at about 45 minutes distance and the same goes for Tolo, Porto Heli, Hermione and Spetses. Methana, is only 10 minutes away from the Cosy Maisonette, where there is a range of fish taverns.
The Cosy Maisonette will become your favourite place if you want to enjoy your holidays in peace and quiet, away from the city. If you’ve never had a cottage, then Katerina’s house is your chance, where hospitality and cosiness become ONE. Stock upon what you need from the nearby market, and get ready to live this experience all year round!
